well I went to castlerock lake in wisconsin this last weekend
we were after some of those huge white bass and some eyes
Ice was 30" thick and you better have a gas auger !
started off jigging for some white bass and the bite was very slow
Friday out of 5 guys we only came up with one Crappie
saturday did the same thing and again only one Crappie
and a few tiny Perch, no flags
talked to everyone up there no body was bringing in fish
the Bite is slow all over.

Paul, I'm heading to Castle Rock this weekend, where did you fish, I'll be sure to stay away from there

we actually fished the yellow river area across from the dirty turtle , we were marking them there but just couldn't bring them in

also bunch of guys were out by the fingers they were catching white bass just with the minnows head .

Two of us went out off of Dirty Turtle and found a few white bass on Sunday, marked a lot but could not get them to committ with any regularity. Ended up with 9 white bass and 2 nice crappies. Monday morning we went out to the main lake looking for perch, finally found them in 18 ft of water in the old riverbed, ended up with 16 perch and 1 crappie, and 1- 27" catfish. Moved back to the Turtle area in the afternoon and picked up 3 more white bass. Main lake still had 29" of ice, 24" in front of the Turtle. Monday afternoon the ice got real slushy.

I'm not sure if you guys are familiar with Jerry Tipping up there, but he is a great guide in the area, and has a website that he keeps up with reports. below is the link, he keeps up with the fishing and ice or water conditions, on both Castle Rock and Petenwell.
He's a great resource if you are interested in the area. We have a house on Petenwell, and this site has been great for us.
